How to use the schema markup generator

Before you add schema





Structured data has to match what visitors can see on the page. Do not mark up reviews, prices or questions that are not shown on the page itself.





Valid schema makes a page eligible for rich results, but Google decides whether to show them. Since 2023 Google only shows FAQ rich results for well known government and health websites, though FAQ markup is still valid.

Where do I paste the code?





Inside the head of the page, or anywhere in the body. In WordPress, a Custom HTML block on the page works, as does a header and footer code plugin.





What is JSON-LD?





It is the structured data format Google recommends. It sits in a script tag, separate from your visible content, so it is easy to add and update.





Does schema help my rankings?





Google uses structured data to understand a page and to show rich results. It is not a ranking boost on its own.
