Keyword Cluster Tool

Group your keywords into topics. Each topic gets a suggested main page. Keywords you saved in the Keyword Research Tool load here automatically, in the same browser.

How to use this tool

  1. Get keywords. Make and import keywords in the Keyword Research Tool. Or paste your own below.
  2. Load them here. Your saved keywords load on this page. Click Reload if you just added some.
  3. Build clusters. Type a seed keyword, like "coffee grinder", and click Build clusters. Leave it empty to group everything.
  4. Use the topics. Each topic shows its keywords, total volume, and a suggested pillar page. Export the list as CSV.

Keywords that share a main word go into one topic. Keywords with no shared word go to Other, grouped by intent.

What you get

  • Topics built from your own list. Each topic holds keywords with a shared main word.
  • A suggested main page for each topic, so you know which page to write first.
  • Total search volume and average KD for each topic when your list has those numbers.
  • A CSV file of all topics, ready for a sheet or a content plan.

Why group keywords into topics

One page can rank for many close keywords. If you write one page for every keyword, the pages compete with each other and each page stays thin. A topic groups close keywords so one strong page covers all of them.

For example, burr coffee grinder, best burr coffee grinder and burr grinder for espresso belong on one page. Manual coffee grinder may need its own page, because the searcher wants something different.

How the tool builds topics

  • Small words such as for, the and and are skipped, and a plural counts as the same word as the single form.
  • If you type a seed, the tool keeps keywords with every word of the seed, then removes the seed words, because every keyword has them.
  • A word must appear in at least two keywords to start a topic. Words found in more than half of the keywords are too common to name a topic.
  • The suggested main page is the keyword with the highest volume. Without volume data, the tool picks the shortest keyword.
  • Keywords with no shared word go to Other and are split by intent, which the tool guesses from words such as buy, best or how.

The result is a first draft. Read each topic, move keywords by hand in your sheet when needed, and rename topics in your own words.

Next steps

Make a list in the Keyword Research Tool first. Then give each topic one page, and link those pages to each other. The guide on how to find keywords for a website shows the full method.

Frequently asked questions

How many keywords do I need?

Topics form best with 30 or more keywords. A very short list gives few shared words, and most keywords land in Other.

Is this the same as keyword clustering from search results?

No. Some paid tools group keywords by comparing the pages Google shows for each one. This tool groups by shared words, which is fast and free, but less exact.

Do I need volume data?

No. Topics work without volume. With volume, the tool ranks topics by total search volume and picks the main page by volume.

Where does my list go?

Your keywords stay in your browser. The tool does not send your list to a server.
