Random Name Picker

Paste a list of names, one per line, and press pick. The picker spins through the list and lands on one name, so everyone can see the choice was made fairly.

Ready Add names, then press pick

Turn on remove winners when you need several picks and nobody should be chosen twice.

How to use the random name picker

    1. Type or paste your names into the box, with one name on each line.
    2. Tick Remove each winner if every name should only win once.
    3. Press Pick a name. The winner shows at the top and is added to the list of past picks.
    4. Press Shuffle the list to mix the order, or Start again to clear past picks and keep your list.

What you can do with it

    • Pick one name at a time from a list of any length.
    • Remove winners automatically, so you can run a draw for first, second and third place.
    • See every past pick in order, numbered, under the buttons.
    • Shuffle the list, which is handy for setting a speaking order or making teams.
    • Blank lines and extra spaces are ignored, so messy pasted lists still work.

    Ideas for using the picker

Teachers use it to choose who answers next or who presents first. Streamers and small businesses use it to draw giveaway winners on screen. Teams use it to pick who runs the next meeting or who takes the next support ticket.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is the pick really random?

Yes. Each pick gives every name on the list the same chance. Your browser’s random number function makes the choice, and the result is not decided in advance.

Is there a limit on how many names I can add?

No fixed limit. Lists with hundreds of names work fine.

Can I use it for a prize draw?

Yes, for informal giveaways. If your draw has legal rules, for example a paid entry contest, check what records your local rules ask you to keep.

    Is my list saved?

No. The list stays in your browser and is gone when you close the page. Copy it somewhere safe if you will need it again.
