    HEIC or PNG or JPG?

    HEIC stores a photo in a small file, but support outside Apple devices is patchy. PNG keeps every pixel and is accepted almost everywhere, but photo files get large. JPG is the best pick for photos you want to email or upload, because the files stay small.

    If you need sharp edges, screenshots or images you will edit again, pick PNG. For everyday photos, pick JPG.

    Stop your iPhone saving HEIC

    On your iPhone, open Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Photos you already took stay as HEIC.

    Why did one HEIC file give me more than one image?

    A HEIC file can hold several images. Each one is saved as its own file.
