How to use the meta tag generator
- Type your page title and meta description.
- Add the page URL to create a canonical link.
- Tick any robots options you need, such as hiding the page from search results.
- Check the preview, then press Copy code and paste the tags inside the head of your page.

Writing a good title and description
Google’s guidance is to write a title that is unique to the page, describes it clearly and is concise. Avoid stuffing it with keywords or using the same title on many pages.
A good description sums up the page in a sentence or two, so searchers can see it matches what they want. Google may show different text from your page if it fits the search better.
The tool leaves out the keywords meta tag on purpose. Google does not use it.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a character limit for titles?
Google sets no fixed number. Titles are cut when they are too wide for the screen, which is why the tool measures width in pixels and the counter turns amber when the title is likely to be cut.
Why does Google show a different title from mine?
Google sometimes rewrites titles and descriptions to better match a search. Clear, accurate titles are rewritten less often.
I use WordPress. Do I need this?
SEO plugins such as Rank Math and Yoast write these tags for you. This tool is most useful for hand-built pages, landing pages and checking your wording.
